 Latvijas Pasts has released a cover devoted to the 25th anniversary of the creation of the Youth Guard voluntary military-oriented movement of school youth. Special cancellation of the new cover was held in the Latvian War Museum on the 25th January 2017.
 The cover has been released in support of the goals set by the Youth Guard: a socially integrated and cohesive civil and patriotic society, the youth enlightened regarding the issues of national defence and meaningfully spent leisure time. The design of the new cover incorporates the logo of the Youth Guard with the slogan "Let us grow for Latvia!" and its print run is 2,000 copies. The philatelic release has been designed by the artist Ģirts Grīva.
Presentations cover held with participation of Minister of Defense Raimonds Bergmanis, head of the defense of the National Armed Forces Lieutenant-General Raymond Graube and chairman of the Board of Latvian Post Mārcis Vilcāns.
The stamp has been released to the 25th anniversary of the creation of the Youth Guard and has been designed by the artist Vera Keidane.

Latvian Post has released the first three stamps of 2017 in the series Coats of Arms of Latvian Towns and Municipalities, and they depict the coats of arms of Olaine, Roja and Mālpils Municipalities. The first day cancellation of the stamps was held in Riga on the 13th of January. The new stamps are specific in that they are printed on a self-adhesive base, so the adhesive side does not require moistening in order to affix the stamp.

The stamp dedicated to the coat of arms of Olaine Municipality has a face value of €0.50 and is suitable for sending a regular Class B letter within Latvia. The print run of the stamp is one million copies.
The coat of arms of Olaine Municipality features a silver and green border, which symbolises the merger of Olaine parish and Olaine town.
The three red drops of blood are a symbol of life, while the cranberry sprig with silver leaves and two pink berries stands for the Municipality’s natural wealth and agriculture.

The stamp with a face value of €0.57 shows the coat of arms of Roja Municipality. The face value of the stamp corresponds to the cost of sending a regular Class A letter within Latvia and its print run is 250,000 copies.  
The blue field of the coat of arms Roja Municipality symbolises the sea also on the stamp depicted  two salmons, a gold one and a silver one.

The coat of arms of Mālpils Municipality is featured on the stamp with a face value of €1.39, which is suitable for sending a registered Class B letter within Latvia. The print run of this stamp is 250,000 copies.
The coat of arms of Mālpils Municipality depicts an ethnographic pattern of the Mālpils Municipality belt, whose patterns form the signs of ancient Balts – symmetrically oblique crosses. The cross symbolises light and fire, while the oblique gold cross combined with a straight cross stands for the movement of the sun throughout the year. The red colour in the background of the coat of arms symbolises clay.

The release of the new stamps is accompanied by the issue of the first day cover with a print run of 1,500 copies. The cover features the map of Latvia as well as the coats of arms of Olaine, Roja and Mālpils Municipalities. All the new philatelic releases have been designed by the artist Ģirts Grīva.

Flowers

Flower theme in stamps is very popular among the philatelists. Latvian Post stamps series of flowers have been issued since 2010: first postage stamp in the series was the Peony ( date of issue 2010/03/26) ) was completely sold out in all the post-offices , second- Rose (date of issue 2011/03/25) which had a print run of one million copies, is rapidly bought up. This time Latvian Post issued a new stamp from the series flowers it is Lily by the designer Lily Dinere, and it was stamped on February 11, 2012.

Zigfrīds Anna Meierovics



In an honor of the first Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Latvian Republic - Ziegfrieds Anna Meierovics 125. birthday, the Latvian Post Office in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs  issued a special envelope, which was stamped on February 3rd, 2012 Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Meierovics Hall, K.Valdemara street 3, Riga. Special envelopes issued 1000 copies, designed by artist Girts Grīva.

Ziegfrieds Anna Meierovics was born on 05 February1887 in Durbe near Tukums.
After 1911 Meierovics belonged to various Latvian organizations, notably the Riga Latvian Society. During World War I he worked in the Latvian Refugee Committee and the organizing committee of the Latvian Riflemen units. After the February Revolution he moved to Riga to work as a professional politician.
On August 12, 1918, Ziegfried Meierovics came to London. On October 23, 1918, Meierovics was received by the British Foreign MinisterArthur James Balfour, who, in the name of the British government, informed that the United Kingdom had decided to recognize temporarily the Latvian National Council as an independent institution of Latvia until a decision on Latvia's future would be adopted by the Peace Conference. Following this announcement by the British government, and before the formal declaration of independence of Latvia on November 18, 1918, the first diplomatic mission of Latvia started its’ function in London. The British Government recognized Latvia de facto on 11 November 1918, when Ziegfrieds Meierovics received an official note signed by James Balfour. Meierovics became the first Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia on 19 November, 1918, a day after the Republic of Latvia was proclaimed. He was a member of the Latvian People’s Council, the Constitutional Assembly of Latvia and the 1st Saeima.

The idea to build a monument dedicated to freedom battles appeared to 1922, when Latvian Prime Minister Zigfried Anna Meierovics were asked to draw up rules for the competition on "memorial column" construction.  Unfortunately Z.A. Meierovics died on 22 August 1925. Project "shines as a star" won architect Karlis Zale. Construction work began in the 1931.

In the center of the contour - the Latvian coat of arms (date of issue 2008/11/07); coats of arms Riga(date of issue 2012/01/07); the monument of freedom(date of issue 1991/12/28); one of the major figures in the monument of freedom “Vaidelotis”(date of issue 1992/02/29).

On the envelope:
